NTL BASEBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY BEATS CANTON (April 16, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportCANTON — A four-run third inning helped Cowanesque Valley hold off Canton and beat the host Warriors 8-3 in an NTL small school baseball match-up here Thursday.
CV and Canton each scored a run in the first inning and the Indians added a run in the second to take a 2-1 lead into the third.
Ayren Morgan singled with one out and was thrown out on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Levi Stahli before Lucas Hamilton and Gavin Churchill had back-to-back singles .. with Churchill’s scoring Kegan Lane, who was running for Stahli.
Hamilton scored on a passed ball and Brody Bruce walked, followed by a Cam Stahli double that scored both runners and put the Indians up 6-1.
Canton got a run back in the bottom of the third, CV added two in the sixth and the Warriors plated their last run in the seventh to provide the final.
Hamilton finished with two hits and scored a run, Cam Stahli had a double and two RBI, Churchill had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored and Hunter Simonds had a hit and a run scored.
Morgan had a hit, William Kies had a hit and an RBI, Dave Hess scored twice, Levi Stahli had two RBI and Brody Bruce and Lane each scored.
CV used five pitchers in the win. Hamilton started and allowed an earned run on two walks without recording an out. Simonds pitched two and two-thirds innings, giving up an earned run on one hit and two walks with a K, Churchill went a third of an inning with three walks and a strikeout, Cam Stahli threw three innings and allowed one hit with two walks and four strikeouts and Levi Stahli pitched the final inning, giving up an unearned run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout.
Cowanesque Valley improves to 9-1 on the season with the win. They’re scheduled to next host Northern Potter, on Saturday.
