NTL SOFTBALL: WELLSBORO TOPPED BY TOWANDA (April 23, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Lady Hornets surrendered a lone earned run and Ady Frantz struck out 15 Towanda batters, but the Black Knights earned a 5-3 win over Wellsboro in NTL softball play Thursday.
The teams each scored a run in the first inning and Towanda plated two runs in the third and took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth.
Wellsboro tied it up in the fifth when Frantz singled and a Towanda error allowed both Haylie Smith and Rylee Coolidge to score. The Lady Knights scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to escape with the win.
Frantz took the loss, pitching all seven innings and allowing five runs (1 earned) on three Towanda base hits and four walks with 15 K’s.
Frantz and Coolidge had Wellsboro’s two base hits while Smith scored twice.
Wellsboro (5-8) is scheduled to return to action on Friday at Canton.
