NTL SOFTBALL: WELLSBORO LADY HORNETS STOP SKID WITH WIN AT CANTON(April 24, 2026) Northern Tier West Sports Report CANTON — Wellsboro snapped a five game losing streak with a 6-0 win over Canton in NTL softball action here Friday.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Haylie Smith and Rylee Coolidge each singled, Ady Frantz brought Smith home on a sac fly to center and Coolidge scored on a Canton error off the bat of Teagan Novinger.
Frantz kept the Warrior bats in check .. earning the shutout win and allowing just two hits with a walk and 16 strikeouts .. and the Hornets plated two runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings to provide the final.
Wellsboro took advantage of three Canton errors and a Hannah Taylor sac bunt to score their two runs in the sixth and Novinger homered in the seventh and Delaney Morral scored on a Canton error after reaching base with a single.
The Lady Hornets had six hits in the win as Novinger had a home run, an RBI and a run scored, Frantz had a hit and an RBI, Morral had a hit and scored twice and Smith, Coolidge and Harleigh Cleveland each had a hit and a run scored.
Wellsboro improves to 6-8 on the season with the win. They’re scheduled to return to play on Tuesday at Wyalusing.
