VARSITY BASEBALL: CV INDIANS BEAT GRIFFINS FOR NON-LEAGUE 'W' (May 4, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWESTFIELD — Cowanesque Valley jumped out to an early lead and held off Sullivan County for an 11-4 win in non-league baseball action here Monday.
After Sullivan County scored two runs in their first at-bat, the Indians scored five in the bottom of the first and went up 7-2 in the second inning. The visiting Griffins cut it to 7-4 in the third but the Indians added a pair of runs in both the fifth and six innings to seal the win.
Eight Indians collected nine base hits in the win. Brody Bruce (2 rbi, 1 run) had two hits while Ayren Morgan (1 rbi, 1 run), Gavin Churchill (1 rbi, 1 run), Levi Stahli (1 rbi), Dave Hess (2 runs), Drayden McGee (2 runs), Hunter Simonds (1 run) and William Kies (1 run) had one hit each.
Kegan Lane, Lucas Hamilton and Isaiah Mummert each had an RBI and Logan Huntington and Maddox West each scored a run.
CV used four pitchers in the win as Churchill went two and two-third innings and allowed four unearned runs on two hits and three walks with three strikeouts, Simonds pitched two innings and walked one while striking out two, Hess went an inning and a third and Levi Stahli threw the final frame, striking out one.
Cowanesque Valley (15-2) returns to play Tuesday when they host Towanda.
