NTL TRACK & FIELD: WELLSBORO LADY HORNETS WIN NTL CHAMPIONSHIP, BOYS 2ND (May 8, 2026)

ATHENS — The Wellsboro girls Track & Field team won the title at Friday’s NTL Championships behind seven event wins while the boys were edged by North Penn-Mansfield to finish 2nd.

The Lady Hornets scored 145 points to win the Championship, their first since 2014. 

Lauren Kosek won the 800m run (2:23.16), the 1600m run (5:16.74) and the 3200m (11:42.32) while Piper Hoprich won the 100m (12.14) and 200m (25.04) dashes and was on the winning 4x100m relay team (50.48) and Isla Twoey won the 300m hurdles (47.48).

Luna Moyer was 3rd in the 100m (13.04) and 4th in the 200m (27.15), Isla Twoey was 3rd in the triple jump (33-4.5) and 4th in the long jump (16-2.75), Sophia Yoder was 5th in the 200m (27.48), Olive Twoey was 5th in the 100m hurdles (17.82) and Jennifer Belz was 6th (17.88), Kristina Belz was 5th in the long jump (16-0) and Dillyn Patt was 6th (15-5.75), Lauren Gehman was 5th in the triple jump (33-0) and Kristina Belz was 7th (32-5).

Elise Largey and Megan Moser tied for 5th place in the pole vault (7-0), Gehman was 6th in the high jump (4-6), Piper Perry was 6th in the 300m hurdles (52.16) and Olive Twoey was 7th (52.47), Kaci Kosek was 7th in the 400m (1:05.71), Katherine Whitney was 7th in the discus (82-1.5), Sienna Zengerle was 8th in the javelin (85-6), the 4x400m relay team placed 2nd (4:20.85) and the 4x800m relay was 6th (11:53.07).

On the boys’ side, the Hornets scored 132 points, behind only North Penn-Mansfield’s 138.

Jonathan Carl won the 200m (23.12) and 400m (50.53) dashes and the triple jump (41-6.75), David Seeling won the 110m (16.19) and 300m (41.39) hurdles and Jude Cuneo won the 800m run (2:01.84).

Seeling was 2nd in the high jump (6-0) and 3rd in the triple jump (40-4.75), Henry Whitney was 2nd in the 800m (2:02.99), 4th in the 1600m (4:29.07) and 6th in the 3200m (10:16.59), Brayden Benjamin was 2nd in the 110m hurdles (16.64), 5th in the long jump (19-0.75) and 7th in the 300m hurdles (46.69), Liam Stevens was 3rd in the long jump (19-9), Max Macias was 7th in the 3200m (10:27.99) and 8th in the 1600m (4:47.82), Ransom Schultz was 7th in the shot put (38-11.75), Aaron Kirk was 8th in the 200m (24.71) and 400m (53.93) dashes and the 4x100m (46.26), 4x400m (3:42.92) and 4x800m (9:32.16) relays all placed 4th.
