NTL SOFTBALL: WELLSBORO KNOCKS OFF WYALUSING (May 8, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Lady Hornets faced a streaking Wyalusing squad Friday and avenged an earlier season loss by one-hitting the Lady Rams and earning an 11-4 win, guaranteeing Wellsboro of a District IV Class 3A playoff spot.
Wyalusing came into the game 13-5 and having won six straight, including a 16-6 win over the Hornets.
Wellsboro surrendered 10 base hits to the Rams in that April 28th loss, but on Friday, Hornet ace Ady Frantz gave up a lone single and struck out 12 to earn the win.
The Hornets went up 3-0 in the first inning before Wyalusing rallied to take a 4-3 lead in the top of the second. Frantz would shut the Rams down the rest of the way and Wellsboro retook the lead with two runs in the fourth and added their final four runs in the sixth.
Frantz finished with a triple and a single, three RBI and two runs scored while Rylee Coolidge had a hit, two RBI and scored twice and Kaylee Frazier had a hit and drove in a run.
Haylie Smith scored three runs, Harleigh Cleveland scored two and Mazie Johnson one and Delaney Morral, Gena Fleming and Teagan Novinger each had an RBI.
Wellsboro (10-9) has one regular season game remaining, Tuesday at Williamson.
