VARSITY BASEBALL: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD HAS DOUBLE-HEADER SWEEP INTERRUPTED (May 9, 2026)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportMANSFIELD — The North Penn-Mansfield baseball team was on it’s way to sweeping a double-header with Northern Potter here Saturday, taking Game One 10-3 and going up 8-1 in the second before being suspended due to weather.
The Tigers fell behind 3-1 in the first game as Northern Potter scored two runs in the first inning, NPM scored one in the bottom half of the first and the Panthers added their final run of the game in the second.
North Penn-Mansfield used an Andy Hermansen two-run home run to plate three runs in the third, added a run in the fourth and scored their final five in the sixth to get the win.
Hermansen finished with three base hits in the win and added three RBI and two runs scored while also starting on the mound and going three innings. The senior allowed three runs (1 earned) on four NoPo base hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
Isaac Sparks relieved Hermansen and pitched four innings, giving up no hits or runs with three walks and six K’s.
Collin Oakes had two base hits and scored three runs, Brock Deitrick had two hits and an RBI, Ryder Breon had a hit and two RBI, Kam House had a hit, an RBI and a run scored, Jason Harer had a hit and an RBI, Adam Wilson had a hit and a run scored and Sparks had an RBI.
The Tigers scored eight first inning runs in Game 2 before weather forced the game to be suspended.
North Penn-Mansfield (7-10) have one game remaining on the season, Wednesday at South Williamsport.
