NTL SOFTBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY LADY INDIANS 2026 SEASON RECAP (May 28, 2026)

WESTFIELD — Cowanesque Valley took advantage of last season’s limited seniors to get a number of underclassmen valuable playing experience and combined that with a pair of returning seniors and some solid newcomer contributions to finish the 2026 season 10-11 and in the District IV playoffs.

The Lady Indians finished 10-10 in the regular season, including a 6-8 mark in the NTL overall and 6-2 in the small school division, only losing to small school champs Williamson twice while rolling to wins over the rest of the NTL-II (Canton, NEB, Sayre) by a combined score of 79-21. A 14-0 loss to top-seeded Montgomery in the Class A playoffs brought CV’s season to an end.

Sophomore Lilah LaBarron followed up a solid freshman season in ’25 .. where she was named to the All-Tioga County Second Team .. with an even more impressive 2026 campaign. 
LaBarron batted .500 for the year, with 34 base hits .. including two home runs, three triples and four doubles .. 29 RBI, 19 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. Also the Indians’ ace, LaBarron threw 86 and a third innings and went 5-6 with a 3.00 ERA and 93 strikeouts.

CV’s senior leadership came from Zeraya Wilson and Arianna Cary.
Wilson hit .492 with 32 base hits .. including a home run, a triple and seven doubles .. with 34 runs scored, 19 RBI, 13 stolen bases while drawing 13 walks for a .577 on-base-percentage.

Cary hit .204 with 11 hits, eight RBI and eight runs scored while getting on base at a .306 clip.

LaBarron’s sophomore classmate .. Raegan Watson .. was solid both behind the plate as the Indians’ catcher and at it, batting .448 with 13 base hits (4-2b, 1-3b), 10 RBI, 9 runs scored and a .500 OBP in just nine games of action. 

A pair of freshmen were key for CV this season in Braelynn Balada .. who hit .400 with 22 base hits (6-2b), 17 runs scored, 10 RBI and a .459 OBP .. and Emma Carl .. who batted .350 with 21 hits (7-2b), 15 runs, 12 RBI and a .403 OBP and went 3-0 from the circle after working 27 innings with a 2.85 ERA and 18 strikeouts.

Junior Taylor Eldridge hit .263 with 15 hits, 17 runs scored and 13 RBI while classmate Natalie Grab batted .267 with 12 hits, 13 runs scored and seven RBI. 

CV also got contributions throughout the season from a number of underclassmen, including sophomores Bella Mascho, Ella Krise and Katie Huzey.
