NTL SOFTBALL: NORTH PENN-LIBERTY LADY MOUNTIES 2026 SEASON RECAP (June 3, 2026)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
MANSFIELD — First year Head Coach Nate McNamara leaned heavily on a pair of college-bound athletes to lead North Penn-Liberty to a 14-win season and into the District IV playoffs in 2026.

Seniors Haley Litzelman, headed to Bucknell, and Elyna Booth, an East Stroudsburg commit, led the Lady Mounties to a 12-3 record in the NTL and a 7-3 mark in the Large School division.

Early season losses to Large School-foes Towanda (4-2) and Wyalusing (4-0) put Liberty behind the eight ball, but a 9-game winning streak .. including a 3-1 win over Athens .. and an Athens’ loss to Wyalusing drew the Mounties even with the Wildcats in the NTL-I standings.

Athens would earn the season split with a 5-1 win and lock up the title with Large School wins over Towanda and Troy down the stretch.

Litzelman was stellar in her senior season and improved on her junior numbers, when she garnered All-Tioga County Softball ‘Player of the Year’ honors.

Litzelman’s .518 batting average was over 100 points higher this year, her .562 on-base-percentage went up from .464 and the future D1 Lady Bison collected 29 base hits .. with three home runs, three triples, five doubles, 23 RBI, 17 runs scored and nine stolen bases. The more-than-capable pitcher also went 1-0 in the circle, not allowing an earned run in 11 innings of work with 19 strikeouts.

Classmate Booth handled the bulk of Liberty’s innings as the Lady Mounties’ second-year ace, following up her All-Tioga County ‘Pitcher of the Year’ honor in 2025 with an impressive ’26.

Booth went 12-4 over 106 and two-third innings of work with a 1.38 ERA, 169 strikeouts and just 35 walks. The future ESU Warrior also produced at the plate, batting .298 with 14 hits .. including a home run .. and adding eight RBI and a .450 OBP.

Freshman Julia Kaczyński burst onto the varsity softball scene with an impressive inaugural campaign for Liberty, batting .446 with 25 base hits .. including nine doubles .. and adding 20 runs scored, nine RBI, eight stolen bases and a .523 OBP.

Senior Kameron Lightner (.322 BA, 19 hits, 6-2b, 13 RBI, 10 runs, .385 OBP) was third among the Lady Mounties’ lineup in both batting average and base hits, while junior catcher Madison Smith (.315 BA, 17 hits, 1-HR, 2-3b, 2-2b, 16 runs, 6 RBI) was fourth.

Three other Mounties had double-digit base hits on the season .. sophomore Maddie McNamara (.265 BA, 13 hits, 11 runs, 4 RBI, 8 SB, .357 OBP), junior Elyna Shaw (.259 BA, 14 hits, 1-HR, 4-2b, 7 runs, 5 RBI, .310 OBP) and junior Claire Dominick (.232 BA, 13 hits, 5-2b, 1-3b, 8 runs, 8 RBI, 7 SB, .328 OBP) while sophomore Addy Lehman (.200 BA, 9 hits, 13 runs, 4 RBI, 5 SB,  .294 OBP) was a valuable #9 hitter in the NPL lineup.
