NTL BASEBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY INDIANS 2026 SEASON RECAP (June 6, 2026)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
WESTFIELD — The Cowanesque Valley baseball team came up a bit short in their bid to defend their District title, but the Indians finished with a 17-4 record and repeated as the NTL Small School champions.

CV went 8-0 in the NTL-II, outscoring Canton, NEB, Sayre and Williamson 83-20 and winning by an average of over 10 runs per game.

After a 7-0 start to the season, a 7-5 loss to Large School co-champs Wellsboro gave CV their first loss. Another 7-0 run followed and was ended with a 9-0 loss to Athens, who Wellsboro shared the NTL-I title with.

The Indians went 3-1 down the stretch, with an 8-7 loss to Troy, and entered the Class A playoffs as the top seed and looking to defend their 2025 title. After taking down NEB in the semis, the Indians played Benton in the final, where they’d fall 6-4 to bring their season to an end.

A trio of 2025 All-Tioga County first teamers led the Indians in ’26, as senior Ayren Morgan (.426 BA, 26 hits, 2-2b, 27 runs, 24 RBI, 13 SB, .537 OBP) and juniors Dave Hess (.392 BA, 29 hits, 5-2b, 3-3b, 32 runs, 21 RBI, 30 SB, .434 OBP) and Lucas Hamilton (.375 BA, 24 hits, 4-2b, 1 HR, 25 runs, 19 RBI, 9 SB, .461 OBP) provided vital leadership and production throughout the year.

Hess (24 IP, 3-1, 3.21 ERA, 22 K) and Morgan (23 IP, 2-3, 4.26 ERA, 25 K) also led CV from the mound.

Sophomore Brody Bruce (.372 BA, 16 hits, 12 RBI, 9 runs, 11 BB, .509 OBP) made an impact in his first season as an everyday player, while seniors Levi Stahli (.328 BA, 22 hits, 19 RBI, 14 runs, .439 OBP, 7 SB), William Kies (.333 BA, 16 hits, 22 runs, 15 RBI, 14 SB, .536 OBP) and Hunter Simonds (.283 BA, 17 hits, 21 runs, 12 RBI, 12 SB, .469 OBP), junior Gavin Churchill (.333 BA, 18 hits, 3-2b, 18 runs, 14 RBI, 8 SB, .493 OBP) and sophomore Cam Stahli (.250 BA, 9 hits, 10 runs, 7 RBI, .341 OBP) all made up a well-rounded offensive attack for CV.

Levi (19 2/3 IP, 1-0, 0.36 ERA, 2 SV, 30 K) and Cam Stahli (16 2/3 IP, 2-0, 2.10 ERA, 22 K), Simonds (13 2/3 IP, 2-0, 1.54 ERA, 13 K) and Churchill (12 1/3 IP, 3-0, 2.27 ERA, 18 K) gave Head Coach Jamie St. Peter a quality rotation to work with throughout the season while the Indians played toward a league title.
