LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL: WELLSBORO MAJORS TOPPED BY ATHENS IN DISTRICT FINAL(July 12, 2026) Northern Tier West Sports Report ATHENS — Wellsboro fell to Athens for the second straight game Sunday, 16-5, to finish as the runner-up in the PA District 15 major All-Star division.
Athens scored first with a run in the first inning and Wellsboro took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the second. Athens plated eight runs in the third frame and added single runs in the fourth and the fifth innings to go up 11-4.
Wellsboro scored a run in the fifth but Athens pulled away to seal the win with a five-run sixth.
