It was an exciting year of girls sports on both sides of the border in 2025-26. In the end, two girls — Canton's Alexis McRoberts and Corning's Cella McLaughlin — shared The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm 2025-26 All-Regions "Girls Athlete of the Year" honors.

McRoberts competed across four sports with McLaughlin claiming three state golds in two sports.

In the fall, McRoberts led the Troy girls' soccer team in scoring with more than 30 goals on the season as the Trojans repeated as NTL champs, and reached the District IV final for the first time in program history. On the gridiron, she was one of the more accurate place-kickers in the NTL for the Canton football team.

On the hardwoods, McRoberts was an all-star as a strong paint defender and rebounder for the playoff-bound Canton hoops team.

This spring, McRoberts earned a pair of state silver medals in the discus and shot put after setting District IV records in both as she claimed gold.

This winter on the indoor tracks, McLaughlin claimed gold in the 55-meter hurdles, while placing second in the state in the long jump.

Outdoors this spring, she won the state title in the long jump and the 100 hurdles. She set the Section IV record in both.

McLaughlin won the 100-meter dash at state qualifiers, setting a Section IV record in process. She also qualified for states in a relay.

Cella McLaughlin, Corning: See above.

Sydney Blunt, Horseheads: Blunt was the rare soccer and flag football star. 

On the pitch, she had 13 goals and eight assists to lead Horseheads to a sectional title. 

On the gridiron, she was all-state on defense with 32 tackles, and five interception while running for 850 yards and seven TDs on 95 carries. She also had two touchdown receptions, and a punt return for a score.

Maddie Ribble, Horseheads: Ribble was a two-sport all-star, scoring 11 goals and three assists for the Raiders soccer team that won a sectional title. 

She was all-state in basketball, with strong defense and 10 points per game. Ribble also competed for the track and field team.

Char Starns, Corning: Starns led the Corning hoops and volleyball teams to sectional titles. 

On the hardwoods, she was third team all-state averaging 20.7 points, 13.4 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, and 1.8 steals per game.

Starns was known for her defense in volleyball, with 42 blocks to go with 147 kills, and 27 digs.

RaeAnne Feeko, Tioga: Feeko was all-state in two sports for the Tigers. 

In volleyball she had 277 assists, 52 aces, 174 digs, 54 kills, and 15 blocks to earn all-state honors. 

On the softball diamond, she hit .600 with 39 extra-base hits, which included eight doubles, one triple, and nine home runs, to go with 37 RBI, 39 runs scored, and a perfect 19-for-19 in stolen bases to earn a first-team all-state nod. 

On the wrestling mats, Feeko went 13-6 on the season.

Vida Rossi, Tioga: Rossi had successful seasons across all three sports. 

This spring, she claimed two state medals, taking bronze in the 100, and placing sixth in the long jump. 

In the fall, she had 124 kills, 46 digs, nine aces, six blocks, and one assist on the volleyball court. 

Rossi finished with 12 wins on the wrestling mat this winter.

Rylee Lantz, Sayre: Lantz had excellent seasons across all three sports for the Lady Redskins. 

In the fall, she led Sayre to their its first-ever District IV title and state tournament win, finishing with 211 kills, 35 blocks, 37 aces, and 53 digs. 

On the hardwoods, she averaged 11.4 rebounds and 2.8 blocks to go with 6.4 points, and 1.4 steals per game. 

On the diamond this spring, she hit .306 with two doubles, three triples, eight RBI, and 12 runs scored.

Haley Litzelman, North Penn-Liberty: Liztelman was a three-sport standout for the Mounties. 

On the volleyball hardwoods, she had 236 kills, 87 points, 61 aces, 231 digs, and 38 blocks.

On the hoop hardwoods, she finished with a 22.4 points per game scoring average to top 1,400 points in her career, and averaged 13.2 rebounds. 

On the diamond this spring, Litzelman hit .518 with three home runs, three triples, five doubles, 23 RBI, and 17 runs scored.

Lauren Kosek, Wellsboro: Kosek was an outstanding runner this year. 

In cross-country, she was the NTL "Runner of the Year," and claimed the District IV, Class AA title. At States, she took home bronze. 

This spring on the track, Kosek earned district silvers in the 1,600- and the 3,200-meter runs, while at States, she helped the Lady Hornets to a third-place team finish as she was second in the 3200, and fifth in the 1600.

Kameron Lightner, North Penn-Liberty: Lighter excelled across three sports. 

On the volleyball hardwoods, she had 206 kills, 17 aces, and 316 digs, while on the hardwoods she averaged a double-double of 15.4 rebounds and 12.6 points per game. 

On the softball diamond this spring, she hit .322 with six doubles, 10 runs scored, and 13 RBI.

Brooklyn Evans, Towanda: Evans was a standout in two sports. 

In volleyball, she had more than 200 kills and 200 digs to lead the Knights back to the playoffs. 

On the softball diamond, she hit .456 with eight doubles, three home runs, 23 RBI, and 20 runs scored.

Brynn Woodruff, Towanda: Woodruff led the Towanda basketball team in scoring and finished with more than 1,000 career points. 

This spring, she earned her second straight state silver medal in javelin, claiming the District IV title in the event the week before.
