NTL GIRLS TENNIS: WELLSBORO '26 SEASON PREVIEW (August 26, 2026)

WELLSBORO — Second-year girls’ tennis Head Coach Spencer Kreisler is excited for the 2026 season and is looking to repeat as NTL champs by combining his returning experience with a promising newcomer to the program.

Kreiser points to a pair of seniors .. Angie Cory and Kyleigh Lynn .. and a pair of juniors .. Piper Anderegg and Serenity Mosher .. as returners who will have key roles this season.

“Kyleigh played 3rd singles for us last year and Angie was a very strong doubles player,” says Kreisler, “Piper and Serenity were both strong doubles players for us last year and now it looks like they'll be playing singles for us this year.”

Kreisler adds that an exciting addition to the Lady Hornets’ roster is senior foreign exchange student Amanda Gonclaves.

“Amanda is visiting us from Switzerland,” explains Kreisler, “She has a lot of experience playing padel (a fast-growing racquet sport, which combines elements of tennis and squash) and it looks like her skills are transferring very well to tennis. We can’t wait to see how this season plays out for her.”

Kreisler has also welcomed a pair of assistant coaches to his staff that he feels will be very beneficial to the team.

“I’m gaining two very experienced assistant coaches this season in Andy Borzok and Scott Garrison,” says Kreisler, “Andy is the head coach for the boys' team and I’ve been his assistant for the past few years while Scott was a former tennis coach at JTCC and it'll be his first-year coaching with us.”

Kreisler says that his team’s goals include a repeat league title and to make it back to the District playoffs, while also praising his squad for putting in work in the offseason.

“I thought the offseason went great,” says Kreisler, “we had a lot of players show up to our open court sessions this summer and it really seemed to help development.”

The Lady Hornets opened their season Monday by sweeping league-foe Towanda, 5-0, and will host their home opener on Saturday at 11 am against Montgomery.
