BLOOMSBURG — The CV girls cross-country team had three finishers in the top 15 at the District IV, Class A Championships, with all three heading to states.
Natalie Yonker (20:00.4) took fourth, Lainey Hackett (21:21.70 was eighth, and Maddison Fay (22:07.8) came in 15th.

"I'm really excited," Yonker said about going back to states. "I'm really happy because we all push each other to our max. It's really nice, and we all have such a good friendship."

The junior was as high as second during the race before finishing in the fourth.

"I really just wanted to go out, and give it my all," said Yonker. "I knew that this could be my last race of the season, and I didn't really want it to be, so I just went out with the mindset to give it all I have, and to just embrace the pain."

At states Yonker wants to focus on that finish of hers so she can keep her spot better.

"I have been feeling very confident in race," she said. "I would like to keep that up."

Hackett couldn't have been happier with her performance.

"It's the best race I've had this season," she said. I felt really good."

Hackett was as high as fifth through the first half of the race.

"I was just hoping I would be top 10," she remarked. "I just kept pushing, it was a rough battle in my mind."

Fay was on the borderline, though she never fell out of the top 10 individuals. She was 12th early on before slowly falling back to 15th.

"I felt pretty good," said Fay. "I was very confident mentally. Once I got to the hill I knew I could keep pushing."

Seeing herself running near the top of the race only made her more confident.

"It made me run faster as I was feeling what place I was in," said Fay.

The Indians took fourth as a team with 66 places, just 10 spots out of second.

Kyla Hakes (23:44.9) took 24th, and Kaelynn Cole (24:54.7) was 29th.

The CV boys took 13th in the Class AA race with 340 points.

Nathaniel Wood (18:10.1) was 30th, with Trevin Hollenbach (19:56.5) taking 72nd. Keegan Farr (20:16.2) came in 79th, Isaiah Fuhrer (20:17.6) was 81st, and Josiah Hampton (21:21.1) took 94th.
