COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: WELLSBORO'S CALLAHAN RECOGNIZED AS PSAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (2021-11-03)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportMILLERSVILLE, PA — Wellsboro grad Caitlyn Callahan is leading her Marauder volleyball team on a late-season playoff push, and after a pair of recent conference wins, was recognized as the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Millersville currently stands at 10-17 overall, 4-6 in the conference, with four league games remaining.
In a pair of Marauder wins .. on October 29th over Bloomsburg and October 30th over Lock Haven .. Callahan had 13 blocks and eight digs, earning her the defensive honor.
The redshirt freshman was dominant at the net offensively as well, collecting 14 kills against Bloom and 15 against Lock Haven. Her 267 kills on the season is second-best for Millersville, while her 345.5 points on the season is tied for the most in the PSAC.
The former Hornet three-time All-State player leads the conference in both solo blocks, with 38, and total blocks, with 107.
Millersville gets back on the court Friday and Saturday, as they travel to Kutztown and East Stroudsburg for a pair of PSAC matches, before finishing up their regular season at home against Shippensburg and Shepherd on November 12th and 13th.
