DISTRICT IV VOLLEYBALL: NP-LIBERTY PLAYS FOR DISTRICT IV CHAMPIONSHIP (2021-11-03)

TIOGA JUNCTION — The North Penn-Liberty volleyball team will look to defend their streak of five straight District IV AA titles Thursday when they take on second-seeded Wyalusing at Williamson High School.

NPL finished 15-1 this season, their lone loss coming at AAAA Central Mountain. The Mounties topped Wyalusing 3-1 a week ago, their seventh of eight wins to finish the regular season. 

Wyalusing earned their berth in the finals by beating Williamson 3-0 Tuesday. The Rams finished 13-6 in the regular season, with their losses coming to NPL, NEB, Williamson, Nanticoke and twice against Canton.

The Mounties boast a potent front line and have four players with at least 100 kills on the season. Junior Darby Stetter had 185 kills, as well as 249 digs, while sophomore Saige Lehman had 108 kills and served up 48 aces.

Lone NPL senior Emerald Walker had 105 kills and 51 blocks, while sophomore Payton Chapel had 103 kills and 44 blocks.

Junior Aubrey Pequignot dished out 275 assists and sophomore Megan Spohn had 155.

The AA Finals match will follow the A championship, which starts at 5 p.m.
