Northern Tier West Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — It was a banner year for boys’ cross country in Tioga County this season, as four of the top-8 runners in the NTL, three of the top-6 in the District and two of the top-20 in the State came from North Penn-Mansfield and Cowanesque Valley. While our girl runners did not find quite the successes that their male counterparts did, there were still commendable performances. NTWSR is pleased to recognize both with our All-Tioga County Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams.

Leading the way in most boys’ races this season, and our All-Tioga County Boys’ Cross Country Runner of the Year, is NP-Mansfield’s Noah Shedden.

Shedden, a senior, won the NTL Coaches Invitational, placed third at the District IV Class AA race in Bloomsburg and brought home a State medal by finishing in 15th place at the PIAA meet in Hershey.

Following close behind Shedden in most races were our next two members of the All-Tioga County Team, Cowanesque Valley’s Owen Cummings and Kristian Mizdail.

Mizdail finished second at the NTL Invite, followed by Cummings in fourth place. The two sophomores swapped spots at the District IV Meet, as Cummings came in fifth place and Mizdail finished in sixth. At the PIAA meet, Mizdail came in 41st place, and Cummings brought home a medal by finishing 20th.

CV’s number three runner, Nathaniel Welch, is our fourth member of the All-Tioga County Team. The junior finished eighth at the NTL meet, 16th at Districts and 139th at States.

Our final honoree is NTL Champ CV’s fourth runner, and our Newcomer of the Year, Nathaniel Boyer. The freshman finished 21st at the NTL Coaches’ Invitational and 47th in the District IV race, helping Cowanesque Valley to it’s third-place finish.

On the girls’ side, our All-Tioga County Girls’ Cross Country Runner of the Year is Wellsboro’s Havah Simcox. The junior was the highest finisher for the West at the NTL Coaches Invitational, taking 9th place, then finished 34th at the District IV Class AA meet, again with the fastest West time across classes .. 23:07.

Addison Farrer makes the All-Tioga County squad with her 17th-place finish at the NTL Invite, followed by her placing 17th at the District IV Class A race in 23:29 and qualifying for the State meet, where the sophomore finished 184th.

Our next runner to make the team is Wellsboro’s Madeline Gage. The junior finished 12th overall at the NTL Coaches’ Invite, then placed 46th at the District race in 23:58.

Hornet teammate Julia DeCamp is our fourth member of the All-Tioga County team. The junior finished 18th at the NTL meet and 64th at the District IV race.

Our final spot is shared by North Penn-Mansfield teammates Gabriella Gregory and freshman Madelynn Johns, who is also our All-Tioga County Girls’ Cross Country Newcomer of the Year.

Gregory, a junior finished 23rd, a place behind Johns, at the NTL meet, then took 25th at the District meet, while Johns was 26th.

Our Boys’ Cross Country Coach of the Year is CV’s Aaron Wooster, who led his squad to an 8-0 regular season and an NTL Championship, as well as a third-place finish at the District IV race.

Wellsboro Coach Eric Kosek’s girls’ team finished second in the NTL with a 5-3 record, and is our All-Tioga County Girls’ Cross Country Coach of the Year.
