COLLEGE BASEBALL: CV'S MELKO CONTINUES STRONG SEASON FOR MANSFIELD MOUNTIES (2021-04-04)

KUTZTOWN — CV’s Tyler Melko continued his solid season in a weekend series that saw his Mansfield Mounties split four games with Kutztown. 

In the first game on Friday, Melko belted his fourth home run of the season in a Mansfield 18-14 win. 

In the nightcap, the Mountie senior tied the game at seven with his three-run shot in the seventh inning. Mansfield went on to win 12-7.

The following day, Mansfield and Kutztown played another doubleheader. In the first game, Melko walked twice and scored in a 7-2 loss to the Bears.

In the second game of the day, Melko tied the game at three in the fifth inning with a solo blast, but Kutztown went on to win 4-3.

Melko totaled three home runs in the four games, while scoring six runs and knocking in five runs.

Mansfield is 4-12 on the season, and Melko is leading the Mounties in several offensive categories. 

He is first on the team, and tied for second in the PSAC, with six home runs. His 15 RBI’s leads his team, as does his 33 total bases and his .647 slugging percentage. Melko’s 12 runs scored is tied for first on the team and he is tied for second-most hits with 14.

The Mounties have Lock Haven coming to Mansfield for a doubleheader on Friday, and will travel to Lock Haven for another twin bill on Saturday.
