NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: NP-LIBERTY ON THE DEFENSIVE; TOPS COWANESQUE VALLEY, 55-33 (2022-01-14)

LIBERTY — North Penn-Liberty shut down Cowanesque Valley’s high-octanes offense on its way to a 55-33 win here Friday night in NTL Small School Division boys basketball action.

The Indians, who entered the contest averaging 60 points per game, trailed by just six at the half, but scored only 12 points in the second half.

Devin Bradley scored eight points in the first quarter, and Hunter Thompson added seven points to help NP-L to a 17-10 lead after the first eight minutes.

McGuire Painter and Tucker St. Peter combined nine points in the second quarter as CV trimmed one point off its deficit, and trailed 27-21 at the break.

Noah Shedden scored seven points in the third quarter to fuel a 15-4 NP-L run that extended their advantage to 42-25 heading into the final eight minutes.

The Mountaineers extended their lead in the fourth quarter, and made 5 of 7 free throws to seal the win.

Thompson led NP-L with 19 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Shedden scored 16 points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shit, Bradley added 10 points and four rebounds, Derek Litzelman had four points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals, and Kyle Davis chipped in with four points, seven boards, and one blocked shot..

Tucker St. Peter led CV with 10 points, while Gage Tilton scored nine points — all on 3-pointers, Painter added six points, and Carter Ackley chipped in with four points.

NP-L, now 8-4, hosts Canton Wednesday, while Cowanesque Valley (5-7) is on the road at Wyalusing.
