LIBERTY — After a close, two-point loss earlier in the week to Canton, Derek Litzelman and Noah Shedden combined for 34 points Friday night to lead the Mounties to a 55-42 win over Williamson.

Litzelman scored his 17 points from the second quarter on, while Shedden helped NP-Liberty jump out to a 10-0 start with seven of his 17 in the opening frame.

Williamson’s Erik Berkan hit a three to stop the NPL run and three Tristan Parker free throws helped limit the first-quarter lead to 15-6, NP-Liberty.

After a Talon Kolb bucket to open the second quarter gave the Mounties a 17-6 lead, an Everett Dominick bucket and five points from Kristian Mizdail sandwiched around a Caiden Alexander free throw for Liberty pulled the Warriors to within five at 18-13.

Shedden and Parker traded baskets and Kyle Davis hit a free throw for NPL before Litzelman connected on a pair of freebies to extend the lead back to eight.

Mizdail hit a pair from the line before Litzelman completed a three-point play before the half to take NP-Liberty into the break with a 26-17 lead.

Coming out of the locker rooms, Litzelman helped NPL match their biggest lead of the game at 11 with a bucket inside, before two straight baskets by Dominick cut the deficit back to 28-21.

After a Shedden score and a Mizdail three cut the lead to six, Litzelman hit an ‘and-1’ to keep the lead at seven, 33-24.

Two Parker free throws and another Mizdail three pointer drew the Warriors to within four at 33-29, before Litzelman hit a foul-line jumper and Parker answered to keep the lead at four.

Davis completed a three-point play for NPL but Dominick answered with a basket and Berkan drained a three to pull Williamson to within two at 38-36.

After a Shedden bucket, Litzelman hit a three of his own at the end of the quarter to extend the NPL lead back to seven, 43-36.

Mizdail would answer a Shedden basket and a pair of Davis free throws with a three, then drain another three after another Shedden score, keeping the Mountie lead at seven, but the Warriors couldn’t get any closer.

Devin Bradley, Kolb and Litzelman would all hit two free throws down the stretch, securing the win for Liberty.

Mizdail finished with 19 points for Williamson, including five three pointers, while Parker added nine points.

Dominick had eight points and Berkan had six on two threes.

Along with their 17 points each, Shedden grabbed eight rebounds and had two blocks and Litzelman had five boards and two steals.
